OK, the more and more it seems like this deal should work out for me, the more and more nervous I'm getting that it might fall through. I get particularly worried when I read posts from people like mannyqg and jamin saying that their orders were cancelled by Dell. The closest thing that I can find to an official word in any of the threads is of course from Dell's most famous employee, Cory, saying that orders placed after 6pm CDT on 7/23 will be cancelled. But I thought that manyqg ordered before then, and I haven't seen anyone who ordered after the first day get any shipping confirmation.


So:

- Has anyone who placed an order before 6pm CDT 7/23 had their order cancelled?

- Has anyone who placed an order after 7/19 had their order shipped?

I ordered mine on the 19th and never got an order number. So I emailed Friday and called them on monday. I got an order number when I called them but then I received a email response from my original email yesterday saying that my order was cancelled. I called customer service this morning and they are referring me to the sales division. Sounds like a runaround.


Update: After about an hour and a half talking between customer service-sales-customer service-sales, they finally got my order thru.

Gee, Dell is saving everyone about $1000 on the lowest price anywhere on the internet, and people still have sour grapes over the deal. I am sure Dell will do the best they can to deliver. Perhaps Dell has had too much confussion about this deal, but there are some special circumstances that allowed them to offer this price. But if you get your projector, BE HAPPY!

Dell never marketed this product as a special purchase or indicated that there were special circumstances.


Also, the savings is closer to about $750 over the next closest price which has been found. I'm all for a great deal, but that doesn't mean people should have to tolerate false information. I'll be happy with the deal I got from Dell, and that will make this experience worthwhile. But I'm less than thrilled with their service, so I would be hesitant to buy another item from them if it wasn't a good bargain.

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining here, just trying to pool together all of the information that's out there. I myself and certainly not upset at Dell [right now at least http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif ]. I do have a smile on face, although it's only 80% because I'm happy and 20% because I'm starting to crack up with the suspense...


I'm going to try to start another facts only (i.e. no ranting) thread right now.
