Hi!

My office was getting rid of a bunch of machines and I grabbed a Dell Optiplex DCCY (GX620) Small Form Factor machine with a P4 @ 3.2GHZ. It's missing an HD, but I have extra, and right now has on-board graphics, VGA only. It does have a PCIe x16 (low-profile card) slot available.

Do we think this can meet the demands of running XBMC with little else required? Fair amount of streaming via repositories and some local or network playback.

Would love your thoughts on the best OS for this as well as a recco on a graphics card. This is just a spare-time project, so I'm not looking to spend too much.

Thanks!

It won't take much. A small SSD (60-120GB) and a low-profile card like a AMD HD6450 or Nvidia GT610 will take care of the rest. You could just run OpenELEC on it to see how it goes. You'd be into it for under $100.
