So it boiled down to whether people saw $1,200 difference in picture quality between the 2 displays. Not a surprising finding.
If, on the other hand, they had compared the $2,000 Sony KE-42M1 to the $2,800 Dell the findings would have been the opposite. Assuming, of course, that the viewing distance was 8 feet or more.
Then there is the matter of the myriad of problems with the Dell. Loud buzzing being perhaps the worst offender. The huge thread on this Forum about the Dell paints a somewhat sad picture of the difficulties people have had. Some going through 4 or 5 different Dell 4200s before finding one that they could live with or giving up.
