How do I run a line out to an external amp off channel 2 on a Denon 1912?


I have 6 speakers off a speaker selector that I need to power.

The Denon 1912 does not have any line outputs or Zone 2 outputs for that matter.


Strange but the previous year's 1911 has zone 2 line outputs.


You have to step up to the 2112 to get this feature on the current models.

You can't ... you need to step up to the 2112CI in order to get Zone 2 preouts. You can connect the speaker selector to the SBL/SBR speaker posts instead.

The 1912 replaces the 791 (no Zone 2 preouts) while the 2112CI replaces the 1911.

When you go shopping, it actually helps to turn the AVR's around and look at the back.

As long as I am returning this one. Should I go with the 2112?


I am running 5.1 on 5 B&W LM1 speakers and then zone 2 has 6 speakers in the ceiling around the house. (just background music on the ceiling speakers)

If the speaker selector is impedance matching then try connecting it to the Surr Back/Amp Assign speaker posts and see if the AVR shuts down at your intended listening level with Zone 2 audio playing and 5.1 in the main zone playing. If not, no reason to return it.

I am using a SIMA SSW L4EX it is impedance matching, I am just not getting a lot of volume out of the ceiling speakers. I am new at all of this, so thanks for the help.


I bought a AMP-100 2-Channel Bridgeable Stereo Power Amplifier thinking I could use it to add more power to the zone 2 speakers.

You have seperate volume control on the Zone 2 speakers ... have you adjusted it louder then the default of -40db?

Sure .. what's the issue? If you are using Airplay to connect to the AVR, volume is controlled by the ATV.
