Someone asked this in a different thread, but I didn't see an answer:

"Does the 2800 mkII use the ESS MPEG decoder, or some other one? Put another way, how is the [chroma] bug in the new MkII vs. the old 2800?"

Anyone know the answer?

Thanks,

TMG

Yes it uses ESS (like DVD-3800 and DVD-9000). Yes, the chroma bug is visible according to first reports (on DVD-38000/DVD-9000), but probably a little diminshed from the original DVD-2800.

According to DenonJeff the Mark II uses the exact same MPEG decoder as the original 2800, so the chroma bug will be every bit as bad in the MK II. The bug on the 3800 and 9000 should be less because they use a newer ESS MPEG decoder than the ESS MPEG decoder in the 2800 or 2800 Mk II.
