Denon 2800 vs Sony NS700P

I'm trying to put together my first home theater system and I've narrowed my dvd choices to the Sony and Denon. The display will be a Sony 32" XBR450.

Should I save a bit and go with the Sony or get the Denon? I'm no videophile, but I do want to get the best picture I can get within my budget. Advice? Thank you.

on a budget - ns700p. But Wait, view them first on your xbr. I've seen the 700p at best buy for about 220-250. the Denon is much more.

The Sony can be purchased and taken home and "evaluated" for thirty days. If you decide that the pix quality feature set is no go for you simply return it and tell 'em it posterizes or some such.

Maybe you can find a dealer to let you in home the 2800 over a weekend or two. Only real way to be sure what you like and can live with.

I jumped in with both feet and eyes shut and went the cheapness is greatness route. Easier on my wallet while i'm learning.
Quality wise (video) - Sony is at par with the Denon model. I went with the Sony model...wanted the Denon initally, read some reviews, tested it out and after viewing a lot of DVDs..very happy with the results on my SE Cinema 13HD FP projector and saved some money in the process as well.
