I'm considering an upgrade, probably to the Denon 2802, and would like some questions answered.

- Can you rename the input sources? It doesn't seem so from the manual.

- I'm somewhat space challenged.. Does the stated depth of 416mm include protruding parts? (I think the 3802 is the same size.)

- What exactly is possible/impossible to do without using the OSD? For example can you adjust bass/treble or rear/center levels without the OSD?

- I currently have a Sony STR-DB830. How much improvement in sound quality can I expect (especially for music), and how would you characterize the Denon sound compared to the Sony?

- I'm also considering the more expensive Denon 3802 and Yamaha 1200. Opinions?

Thanks,

/Johannes

Weiman,

Can't speak to sony vs denon.

3802 wants 10cm clearance all sides

Can't rename source

can do bass/treble without OSD

can adjust levels without OSD* ( that is certainly the level adjustments from the main balance settings ) these track by surround mode (supposedly) but not necessarily by source and mode.

Manuals can be downloaded from Denon. They are truly cryptic materpieces.
