As much as I hate non-anamorphic material, I always run into it once in a while.

I've only had my new 2910 for a week and can tell you this is THE ONE until HD. I love everthing about it but I thought, unlike the 1910, it would properly scale and fully display non-anamorphic material on a widescreen display. I've been through the manual and menu's a zillion times and came to the conclusion it cannot be done on my Benq 8700.

Writing this is my last effort to see if I missed something and someone knows but I assume at this point it IS like the 1910. It's not THAT big of a deal, I avoid non-anamorphic stuff for the most part.

Sorry, I do not have the answer, but I do have a question since I know someone who may be interested in the Benq. What display modes does the Benq have? My Sharp 10K has a standard mode for 4x3 material, stretch for 16x9, smart stretch for filling the widescreen with 4x3 with the least amount of distortion, and cinema zoom for properly expanding non-anamorphic dvds. I don't use any of the features from within the DVD player for fitting the image to the screen.

Yes. It only zooms in the 4x3 area.

The Benq has Anamorphic, Letterbox, and 4:3 settings (plus a couple more, actually). However, with DVI input, it will only do 4:3 or Anamorphic, that is why I was hoping the player would compensate.
