Denon 3300 and 24/96 audio

Hi,

I have just built myself a HTPC which includes a DCPro 24/96 soundcard and a Pioneer 10x DVD drive.

The soundcard spdif out is connected via coaxial cable to the Denon 3300 digital (coaxial) in, set on auto.

The system seems to work fine for playing DTS adn AC-3 DVD etc. However I have not been able to get it to play a 24/96 vob song using PowerDVD (software DVD player that uses the Spdif out, without down mixing).

I can play the song using WinDVD and other software, but as I understand it, its because these programs down mix the signal to 24/48

I have been discussing this problem with members in the HTPC forum, thinking that it may be a PowerDVD problem, but it has been suggested that it could be my receiver.

Would any of you with experience with the Denon 3300, please comment on what may be the problem?

Thanks

hi there,

I have a Denon 3300 as well. I can't speak for HTPC output, but my pioneer dvd player can pass 24/96 to the receiver no problem. I have the denon set on 'Auto' for the digital connection and when it detects the 24/96 signal it will lock into 'Direct96k' mode (thats what will be displayed on the denon's display. With 24/96 source material you are forced into direct96k mode, you can't switch to 5ch stereo or anything like that.

Hi diptheater,

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a way of forcing direct96k mode, ie not putting it on auto?

Thanks
