Hi folks. I'm hoping you can help me make a decision. My wife desperately wants a set of external speakers for our keeping room where we do most of our TV watching i.e. satellite. Our TV's sounds is just plain bad, of course. Anyway, our keeping room is open to e kit hen and consumes approximately 1200 sqft and has 10 ft ceilings. It also has a large opening to our formal living room.

I am considering the Denon BHT-391 and the Denon BHT-591. I have been impressed with some of the costumer reviews I have read regarding sound quality. I also looked at a Panasonic system with blu ray and skinny towers. The Pany was interesting because it has networking technology including it Viera suite with auto connections to Netflix etc. My concern with the Pany is connections to my other components like satellite. I do not want to have to switch inputs on the TV which I would not have to do with the Denon systems. I just don't know if I'll be able to hook up everything to the Pany.

Comments welcome.

Jeff

PS: I have a dedicated home theater so I don't need anything super nice. Just better sound.

The DHT-591BA is a very nice system, but it is for typical "smaller" rooms like a den or small TV room. Your situation with a large volume of space often requires larger speakers to "move more air".

Have you considered selecting an a/v receiver and speakers sized for your room ? Almost any HTi'B system is really not appropriate for you large room
