i'm looking for a 9.2 receiver, and I see a lot of people recommending the denon 4400.

I also see some cheaper 9.2 for sale on amazon (i.e. onkyo 630 and pioneer 303). I'm not interested in the bells and whistles, just need something to play 5.2.4. Will I notice a big difference between the denon 4400 and cheaper receiver in sound? I heard that unless you have super high end speakers, you cannot tell the difference. The speakers i'm getting are the Klipsch RP line.

Thanks for the help.

Even with super high end speakers, the differences between these budget AV Receivers is minimal, if at all.

If you never actually AB compared them and listened for hours on end with the same equipment I doubt you’d ever know there was a difference.

Cheapest is usually best, the Denon X4400H does have an edge over the others as it has processing for 11.2 meaning you can expand with a two channel amp later on.

And those other amps are not .2, they are .1. AccuEQ and MCACC only have one LFE channel.

Every manufacturer has a slightly different sound. Some receivers concentrate more on the mid-range, still others play louder but smooth, and others project a fuller soundfield. Most people only hear the difference when you point it out to them. The better your speakers the more pronounced the sound differences. I prefer the Denon sound myself but you will find Yamaha Sony Onkyo and Pioneer enthusiasts as well. Maybe go to a local store to find out if you can hear any difference before you buy.

Adorama has the Yamaha RX-V2085 on sale for $799 every couple of weeks. Best bang for the buck out there.
