I can get a killer deal ($2500.00 WARANTEED) on the 5803. I'm now running a Marantz SR8000 to MIRAGE OMNI 250 Fronts and 50's in the rear, phantom center.

To now, I've been contemplating seperates - mostly the AVM20.

5803 owners and other - what do you think? Is this too good a deal to pass on? How does the 5803 stack up vs seperates? What will I be missing?

All opinions greatly appreciated!

I have the 5803 and really like it. I think it is the best reciever available and is really really good at surround. Separates might make a difference on 2-channel, but not a significant one that I could hear (I tested B&K).

I'm very pleased.

I am pleased also. The 5803 serves as the centerpoint driving a pio 503, Denon 3800, two Dish receivers and misc other components. Speakers include Mangapans in a 7.1 setup. I went with the 5803 for both high band (> 50 mghz) switching and ease of use. The remote sucks, though. The price seems about right.
