It seems adjusting gamma curve in Picture Adjustment of this 5900 player using DVI 1080i has no effect whatsoever, I hope the gamma curve applies to DVI and not just component. Can anyone confirm?

I was using Avia test pattern and one has a nice white to black in about 15 different bars. I can't see any difference at all when adjusting the curve.

Thanks for your help,

Htsource,

Unfortunately, when using the DVI output, the sharpness (Mid/hi), chroma delay and gamma correction settings will not work.

That's what I was afraid of. Can it be done through firmware update or there are implications that can't be done when using digital connection?

Or if the player can output 1080i through component, that'd work too.

Thanks again for your information,

Simon

I suspect it can't be done through firmware change but I'm not sure.

The video signal path through DVI is different from analogue.

I'll let the experts like Kris chime in here.

The player will only output 480p through component analogue.

No scaling there I'm afraid..
