I have a Denon AR789 and just bought a new Apple TV. I have it hooked up through the HDMI port on the receiver. When streaming music the sound is good from all the speakers except for the subwoofer including when Audyssey is turned on. I have Def Tech DR7 towers and they are set to small but I get almost no subwoofer sound. When I have the sound coming from our cable system I get great sound from the sub, what could I have set up incorrectly?

I also have Def Tech Center, Paradigm sub and mission surrounds.

What crossover point are you using for
Your speakers on the avr?

That should be OK. I have mine set
At 80 HZ for all speakers on a 6 year
Old Marantz. (Paradigm Studio 40)

I have noticed that when streaming thru
ATV that I have to crank up the volume
A bit before the sub kicks on. After that
I lower the volume down.

I find that Audyssey sets sub volume (trim)
A bit lower than I prefer. I always increase
The trim 3 to 5 db's.

What is the sub level set to after running Audyssey? If not close to 0db (eg. -6db), the subs may not be kicking in at lower volume levels, so raise it using Manual Setup to between -3db to 0db.
I don't remember but I'll take a look, thanks.

Ensure Audyssey Dynamic EQ is engaged which will help boost the bass at lower volume levels. Other than that, as suggested raise the master volume as the audio you're listening to may not have much bass. Keep in mind that a DD/DTS 5.1 cable/movie track has a dedicated LFE channel (0.1) so of course you will have much more bass.
