I recently purchased a Denon AVR-3300 from a friend and cannot get the

digital inputs to work. On the receiver I have set up the dvd input to

optical or coaxial depending on which im trying. Also on the dvd player I

have set up the output correctly. The three options that can be set on the

DVD player are Dolby Digital/PCM, Stream/PCM, or PCM only. The only time

any sound comes out is when the DVD player is in PCM only but it only shows up as Pro Logic DVD. I have tried different digital coaxial cables and

optical cables on two different DVD players and neither would work. Is

there anything I am missing or are the digital inputs on the receiver

broken?

FYI:

DVD Player: JVC XV-N55SL

Receiver: Denon AVR-3300

Speakers: Wharfedale 8.1 Diamonds with Wharfedale 8.1 Center

Thanks in advance for any help as this problem is really annoying me.

Have you set the input of the 3300 to Auto - it's the set of 5 buttons to the right of the power switch. I just checked mine, and if I push the PCM button, it appears to act as you've described.

Good luck,
