A current review of each receiver can be found in the latest edition of Sound&Vision.

I can only speak of my listening experience with the Denon AVR4800(new owner). The EX channel on both music and video, encoded EX material or not, is Dynamite!!

Thanks for your help guys. I'm going to pick-up Sound & Vision magazine tonight to read all the specs. My real question about these two are. Is Yamaha's Front Trifield effects better than having an EX 2 channel back effect of visa versa? AAAAAHHHHHH!

Thanks for both of your responses

All the best,

I think the Denon 4800 uses two rear speakers and the RX-V1 uses one center rear speaker (6.1). The dealer here told me that it was Yamaha who made the 6.1 channel and that Dolby is licensing it from Yamaha right now. I'm not sure if I believe him since I could not find any article on the internet about this. Does anyone have a comment on this?

Has anyone compared these 2 models yet. Your input would be appreciated. Its either THX-EX with the Denon "or" Matrix 6.1 with the Yamaha. Going to buy a reciever with no real experience. I'm just caught up in all the hype and advertising.

Thank-You
