I have a brand new AVR3300 that was just installed in my home theater. I am trying to break my speakers and the receiver in and leave it running for several days. However, when I run a cd on "repeat" or FM stereo, it powers down and shuts off. Is there a problem with the receiver or is there something I can do to shut it off?

Thanks in advance.

Rod,

I would suspect you have a heat dissipation problem and/or are driving low impedance (<4ohm) speakers. This unit is equipped with a high speed protection circuit that will cut off all power to the speakers when the surrounding temperature is high (extended use at medium to high volume and poor ventilation would reproduce this situation).

Good luck

Thanks for your input. Here's the deal: I'm running at a fairly low to average volume (i.e. I can't hear it anywhere else in the house)and I have about 8" on each side of the unit and about 5" on top of the unit. While I am still working on the room, I have not yet put the back to the cabinet on. That said, I think there is plenty of "air" around the unit.

The speakers I am running are all NHT. My fronts and centers are the VS2.4's (8.0 OHM)and my rears are the HDP-2 (6.0 OHM).

Rod,

I have had a 3300 for almost 1 year. NEVER had any problem. Play CDs all day long at high volume levels. I watch DVDs at 0 reference all the time...pushing to +10 for short periods. Never had clipping or cut-outs by unit for overload.

Pushing Paradigm 80s, CC-350, 40s (surrounds), PSW-2200.

I would strongly urge you to return the unit for replacement.
