I have this unit in a large living room and overall I'm happy with it - plenty loud. Just be aware it is not 'immersive', although most soundbars probably aren't either. Let me know if you have specific questions. You should be able to get it around $400 on sale and forgo the refurb. I would NOT pay retail for this. I'm coming from not having surround at all so I'm plenty happy, but if you're coming from a 5.1 setup you may be disappointed.
