I didn't think Dolby Digital was ever 24bit/96khz. I thought it was always 24bit/48khz.

Aside from that thought, if that disc does contain a 24bit/96khz signal usable by the 2800, I'm sure it's flagged for copyright protection. The 2800 will not output 24/96khz signals that are copyright protected via it's digital output, thus it will downconvert them to 24bit/48khz.

I think the only discs that may output 24/96khz digitally are the few Audio only DVDs (not DVD-Audio discs) that are out there - like Chesky discs or something like that.

Dolby digital is 20bit/48kHz. The multichannel 24bit/96kHz tracks require a DVD-Audio player. Some discs put the stereo 24/96 tracks on the Video partition, but most put them in the Audio partition, so again a DVD-Audio player would be needed.

Most discs include a DD track on the Video partition so they will play on all DVD players. So when you see a DD logo on a disc, it doesn't mean it is 24/96. The 24/96 refers to the DVD-Audio tracks.
You're thinking of the HDCD-light. I've played a few CDs which are HDCD. The Madonna Greatest Hits 2 has a few HDCD-tracks.

Well, if you look real close at the dvd-2800s lcd screen you'll see where the 24/96khz lights are, plus there's a diagram of a surround speaker setup if you look close. Now maybe I'm crazy but I assume if these signals are on the display that they can be lit up.And to repeat has anyone been able to light these? As for the last post, HDCD is a seperate light,It's not on the main screen! Thanks so far everyone!
Ok Mr. Wiseguy (hehe:)

Go here:

Click on "Learning Library", then scroll down to "DVD Reviews", then click on the article "Introducing DVD Super Audio" article. I think this will answer your questions and, if you order one, will make the little 24/96khz light shine as long as you want.

DBNyack is correct Chesky is one studio which puts out 24/96 PCM discs. Classic Records is another. The bottom line is that are not many discs that do this. If you like classical or jazz, the AIX DVD-Audios put the 24/96 Stereo PCM tracks in the video partition so they are accessibe from a DVD-V player.
IF you look closely in the display of the DVD-2800, it also has surround-sound decoder-lights, but it does not hav a decoder. This is because Denon use the same display for many models, and does not mean that the player can do more stuff. :)
