Ok - I searched the forums but was unable to find an answer to what I think is probably a pretty common question.

Is the Denon Link 3 cable just a cat5 RJ-45 cable? Straight thru or crossover? I find it difficult to believe that you would need a shielded cable for a a 12" run.

If it is, I cannot see paying a few hundred dollars for something I can pick up in a computer supply store for $10.

Does anyone out there have any first hand experience in subbstituting a common cat5 cable for what Denon is trying to sell?

Thanks.

Yep just your typical straight through cable. Use CAT6 if possible, otherwise CAT5e should do just fine.

Thanks Darrell. That is what I thought, but I wanted to double check.

Why Denon feels it is necessary to bend their customers over the fence rail is another matter. But I won't go there.
