My 2309ci AVR has to be manually powered on before the RS-232 port will start to communicate. Has anyone found a workaround for this? I checked the AVR threads with no luck.

I don't remember the exact name but there is a power save or sleep setting (or something) that needs to be disabled to keep the serial port active at all times.

I heard something about a new 'power on' command available with a firmware update, on the Denon 3808. I think it was released ~Nov.


I only saw it in passing - I don't know much about RS232 control.
