I'm interested in trying to improve the picture from my Denon 5900 on my 60" Sony Grand Wega III. I currently output the signal at 1080I by DVI.
I've heard that many have had their DVD players SDI modified and send the signal through a deinterlacer/scaler, then on to their projector.
But the problem I'm having in making this decision is that I've yet to find anyone who actually owns this player, that has compare what the picture looked like via DVI compared to SDI through a scaler. All the comparisons so far have been something like taking a player that only had analog out and SDI modifying it, then sending the signal to a DVDO for scaling and deinterlacing, then component out to their projector. As much as this may have improved their picture quality, its nothing like the situation I have.
So, I guess I'm asking is for someone who has actually SDI modifed a Denon 5900 and is using an external scaler/deinterlacer and a Sony GWIII,or other LCD rear projector with DVI input, is the difference between DVI at 1080i and SDI through a scaler/deinterlacer that much different. Now the GwIII converts its DVI input to component fairly early on in its circuit, so I'm not sure that one to one pixel mapping is of any value with this setup nor do I know that it would even accept a non standard resolution.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JimP
