I have a 4 year old Denon 2800. Last week (ironically before the Hurricaine hit), it began shutting off occasionally. Last night, I narrowed down the problem when I noticed that in running the test tones, it would shut down when it got to the right front channel. I had noticed that there was very little sound coming out of the right front channel before running test tones.

I switched the front speakers to see if it was the receiver or the speaker. I ran the test tones again. It again shut down when it got to the right front speaker which eliminates the speaker as the culprit.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Also, check the whole speaker cable or swap it out.I've heard of people with pets that have chewed the wires.

Thanks for all of the tips!

I removed the right front speaker wire, trimmed the edges, and carefully connected them to make sure the wires were not touching anything else. The problem is gone. The wire must have been touching something.

Glad it was not a receiver issue.
