The pioneer will do as good or better on the speakers plus you can actually adjust the settings unlike denon's take it or leave it.Quote:

Minimal power advantage, maybe 10W or so based on how Pioneer rates AVRs using higher THD values to come up with higher Watts rating for marketing purposes and the Audyssey MultEQ XT on the X2000 will not only EQ the sub (when added) but likely do a better job on the speakers as well. Also X2000 comes with a 3 year warranty vice only 1 year on the 1223.

Thanks for all your input. I went with the x2000. The extra power of the pioneer wasn't enough to win me over and I like Denon's iphone app more. Audyssey seems like it will be better as well.
