Anyone know where I can buy JVC/Fuji DF-360 DVHS tapes?

I can only find the 300 and the 420s. I need longer than 300, but dont want to use the 420s because they are a different formulation and have a thinner base media. The 360s are the same formulation as the 300s.

thanks

I read in a thread that someone was able to get the DF-360 DVHS tapes for around $10 from ***************.

I emailed for a quote. They are around $18 each now. It's cheaper to get the DF-420 in the US now. Too bad, $10 would have been a good deal on the 360 tapes. I'm sure a big part of the cost is the importing of them.

If anyone has a source to get them for $10, can you post it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Was this with ordering a bunch of them? I had to order about 40 to get the average to $11.50.

20 tapes would be $338. That's still almost $17 each.

Too bad, I was looking forward to getting some. But that is too much. Plus, I don't think I can order 40. I don't have that many friends that have a DVHS :)

Google is your friend.

A quick google of "df-360 tape" produces TapeStockOnline, which carries TDK DF-360's for $6.99. You have to order blocks of three.

Voila.

On a related note, has anyone noticed that D-VHS tape is actually a pretty good deal relative to SVHS? A DVHS has the same physical tape length as an S-VHS of half the time length. So a D-VHS DF-300 is the equivalent of an S-VHS ST-150. No one makes ST-150s that I can find, but if they did, they'd be pretty pricey. If you look at what quality S-VHS 120's cost, they're similar in price to a DF-300, and the DF-300 has more tape. TapeStockOnline definitely charges less for DF-360s ($7) than the equivalent pro ST-180 S-VHS ($10).

Now, consumer-grade S-VHS is definitely cheaper (ST-120's for $4 if you hunt around), so if D-VHS tape is equivalent in quality to consumer-grade S-VHS, then D-VHS is more expensive. If it's comparable in quality to pro-grade S-VHS, then D-VHS is cheaper.

Thanks Don, that's a great deal. I just orderd three from them. Wish I'd have thought to use google yesterday, as I ordered 5 DF300 tapes for $.40 more per tape than tapestockonline charges for the DF360's.
