I have a Panasonic CT-36HX41 HDTV. I have a panasonic DVD-F65 progressive scan DVD player. When I play a DVD on progressive scan, diagonal lines appear as interference on the screen and move from the lower right of the screen to the upper left of the screen. It is barely noticeable, but it is clearly not ideal. Does anyone know what this is? Is the DVD player or the TV defective? These lines do no appear on any of the other devices I use (playstation, Tivo, cable without a box).

I noticed something similar on my sisters 27" Philips. I noticed faint diagonal lines all the way across the screen staggered at about 1.5 inches. At first it was only on component inputs(I think, it was VERY faint) and only visible in the black letterboxes Later that month the TV displayed the lines on every input and they were more visible and eventually the tube would flicker and shut off completely. My suggestion is to see if it really is only the DVD input. In hindsight I think the lines probably appeared on all inputs and were only visible on the black background of the widescreen DVD.

I don't think it is PC noise. I unplugged every other device in the house except for the TV and DVD player. Also, it is not consistent. It happens intermittently. It is clearly some kind of interference. I've e-mailed Panasonic. Does anyone have any ideas about how to stop it?

It could be the power supply in the DVD player. One more thing to try. Play a DVD, but then disconnect the wire to the TV leaving the DVD running and watch TV for a while.

That should tell you something.
