I setup a 5.1 system with 5 monoprice 8" in ceiling kevlar speakers and an onkyo 607 receiver. I just got done watching Watchmen and I have to turn it up to 45 to get decent dialogue at night when people are sleeping so if I get an action scene its too loud.

I have played with the dynamic eq and volume balance feature but I dont notice a wonderful change.

The surrounds are set to 120hz and the center to 150hz via the audyssey program.

Any suggestions? This is driving me crazy!

Run your speaker test. Does the center channel sound correct? Is your center channel speaker aimed at your approximate ear level?

Go into the controls and bump the center channel level 3-4db. The Audyssey settings go back to normal after you power down. This is the best way to raise the level.

The speaker you have probably isn't a very good center channel speaker. Tweaking the center channel level is a good way around this.

Yes the speakers are aimed at ear level. I have the speakers on an angled ceiling and the tweezers also angle.

What do you .ran by audyssey resets after power down...does it change hz settings?

The db increase on center speaker is a good idea I will try that...I do agree the speaker may be subpar for center....any reasonably priced in ceiling suggestions?
