Greetings XMLTV Enthusiasts,

Based on your interest in XMLTV as shown through various website postings

we've selected you to help us Beta test a new XML TV Listings data service

being offered by Gist.com.

Please visit [ http://www.gist.com/tv/xmltv/intro.jsp ] for more information.

If you are a new Gist user you will be required to login and select your

default lineup. If you are an existing Gist user you will find a URL

generated uniquely for you. The URL can be used to access daily TV Listings

data for U.S. networks.

We hope this service will be of use and look forward to your comments.

Best regards,

I was wondering if JTL or anyone else has gotten this and if it's legit or has some evil purpose for the company? I found it interesting that they say I was included "becasue of my posts". That is a lie. The e-mail address they used is only on my website vurtual4k.com so they harvested it off the web, not a newgroup or forum like this.

Well, I'm a XMLTV developer and have made numerous posts about it, yet I didn't get the email directly.

(It was posted to the xmltv-users list which I subscribe).

Looking in to it, it seems to require the GIST Gold subscription ($3.95/3-months).

The GIST site seems to use the TMS data feed, and Zap2it service, judging by the format.

If I was the TV_GRAB_NA developer, I would certainly pay the money to have a reliable data feed and stop changing the code to keep up with Zap2IT changes. It's also possible that more detail will be provided than the TV_GRAB_NA grabber provides.

The license agreement is the same as zap2it. The data can only be used for personal non-commercial use.

It's probably more appropriate to discuss this on the XMLTV-USERS mailing list and not this forum.
