Hi !

I recently came across the website from ECHO:

http://www.echoaudio.com/

Seems they have two new audio units available that should at least to their statements on the website and in the manual work very well for HTPC use.

They are called Layla 3G and Gina 3G and are actually geared towards musicians but nevertheless seem to be competitively priced according to musiciansgear.

They support AC3, DTS, & WMA9 output over S/PDIF according to their website and they have something they call "Pure audio mode" for bit accurate digital I/O which seems to bypass the kernel mixer. Of course they also support ASIO, WDM kernel streaming and GSIF.

Their manual explains more about this and other things like "Super Channel" mode or their Delay management in the driver for analog Surround Sound output. While they seemingly do not have any sort of bass management, thats at least something.

Anyone tried those yet ?

Would be interesting to hear how they perform compared to RME or M-audio.

Bye,

Alex
