I have noticed nearly negligible "channel creep" over the last couple of weeks (e.g., NFL Ticket offer channel). Has DirecTV gotten it's act together by NOT adding and deleting channels indiscriminantly (or seemingly), leading to less stray listings.

To my knowledge (I checked) the firmware version shows a 99 date still, so I don't think we received the update yet.

I really do like the integrated APG from all sources (OTA Digital, OTA Analog, and sat) even for OTA channels that DirecTV doesn't have an equivalent local.

As far as I can tell Tim my Mits box is working like your Tosh. I only had a few channels added to the guide during the 2 weeks I was away on business. I deleted them and they have not come back. I tend to believe this may be resolved because they are always listed in the channel listing whereas before they might not be. It sure is nice to have the APG working properly. I haven't had a software update either so it appears the problem was a DirecTv issue (like they said) and not a Hughes HD STB issue as some had speculated.

I have the DST-3000 and was wondering how do you delete the channels you dont watch. I was reading the manual and trying to do it but the channels would still be there. Maybe I am missing something.

Juan - Make sure you are deleting channels from the channel list you are using. There are 5 channel lists you can use but you can only customize (delete unwanted channels) from 4 of them.....

Sort of the same question.

My Mits 500 used to show the local channel guide (like CBS, NBC etc.) and now it only says to be announced.

Don't know why they come and go?

I can't add local to my DirecTV, because if the zip code is in, I don't get CBS 4-1.

When I remove it, I get 4-1 and I do get local programing.

Then it goes away.

I assume this is a fix that everyone is talking about, or do I have something different?

George--

The zip code problem affects all Hughes manufactured STBs in Miami-Dade and (at least) southern Broward counties. It is caused by the zip codes' inclusion of Key West channels 8 and 22, which prevents WSVN-DT and WFOR-DT from being scanned.

Yes, the local channel programming does appear when the guide is downloaded. You will note that only a couple of hours of programming are shown, followed by "to be announced". Only DirecTV (maybe) knows why this occurs.

In my past conversations with Mitsubishi about the zip code problem, they indicated that it might be eliminated as a part of the promised September fix.

I take it from your post that the problem still exists. I have a replacement STB into which I have never entered my zip code. I will await developments before doing so.

What I was trying to respond is that I don't like the maybe from Mits.

I don't understand that if it scans chan 22, why does it not pick up CBS?

It is stronger than Key West in analog.

When you scan it picks up ch22 in analog and digital.

George,

My Tosh does not show a software update. Over the last few months I have noticed at least two updates of the OTA mappings and guide content. I have noticed that there seems to be more channel creep as the sports seasons change and the package notents change (e.g., family pack) but it's much more livable than when the units were first introduced.
