Did I just take some life expectancy from my projector?
I was playing with my BenQ 6100 projector today in an attempt to determine the right ceiling mount height to eliminate key stoning when all of a sudden the unit completely turned off. In my panic I turned it right back on and it made a sharp quick repeating clicking sound (similar to the sound of auto ignite spark on gas cooking ranges or BBQs) and the units lamp light came on solid red with no light output. I did a hard shut down using the rocker switch and then turned it back on and the unit worked just fine. I discovered shortly after that my power plug though plugged into the projector was not fully inserted and with just the right bump, would disconnect…this looks like what caused the original power failure.
My concern is that awful clicking sound which I can only assume came from the bulb? If so, did I just take some life expectancy out of it?
