Hello I am new to the boards and would like some help with my new recent purchase. I am new to LCD's, but not to research. I felt the samsung would be my best option, and decided on the 5 series. When I got to best buy they talked me/us into 6 series [ girlfriend paid 80% of the tv]. He told me that the 6 series had twice the refresh rate and would be better for gaming than any other 32in LCD. I just plugged it in and got it running. Go through the menu looking for 120hz and see it dose not exist!! I feel in a way ripped off or uniformed, and now realize what I always have, the guy at best buy is a retard and didn't know that 32in did not offer 120hz. This is my one and only main use tv, for xbox 360[halo 3], blu ray, dvd, hdtv. This was close to my limit, she actually promised me a 4 series[700], and i talked her up to 6 and paid the rest

Few questions [becuase i can still return it]:

Did I waste my money on this 32in? was hoping for 120hz.

What is the best 32in LCD? thought it was this.

Will my 60hz be outdated soon? don't want an outdated tv in a few months and want to get the max out my buck.

Thanks in advance.

You could have fooled me that the 32" didn't have 120hz. I thought that was the primary advantage of the six series. Don't know how much the price difference is between the two but it shouldn't be much. Compare the features on samsungs website and determine if it is worth the price difference to you. It seems that to get a clear panel and 1080p this is as cheap as it gets. I'd stick with it, but it's up to you.

Edit: I really don't know my 32" models. I guess it would make thigs too easy to make everything uniform.

When I was buying my tv today, the salesman behind me was spewing all kinds of garbage at this older couple. Pretty much everything he said was wrong, and they believed every word. I've learned that my own personal research will take me much further than a BB employee's "expertise." I make my mind up ahead of time and just go in and point to what I want.

No it is a very good set in terms of PQ.

Best is completely subjective, need to look for yourself and consider what makes a picture "better" to you.

Everything electronic is outdated... get used to it. Reality is if you see no judder or much motion blur then who cares?

Remember you watch a TV for YOUR enjoyment, if you enjoy it and you feel you are getting what you paid for then go right on and enjoy the thing. If you feel it is a waste or you got features you don't care about or didn't get features you wanted then evaluate whether it is worth it to you and your wallet. Search around on here for reviews, you've got time to return if need be, but research other sets you had your eye on or get your eye set on and see how they compare to YOU.

You got a nice TV and yes the BB employee either lied to you or had no clue, it's a toss up as to say which one. Samsungs 120hz sets start with 40" and up in the 6 series. Seems as if someone sold the sets they would know that but, oh well. As far as it being outdated, that's going to happen when you walk out the door no matter what you buy. IMO going with a bigger set would be a priority over 120hz at a price point.

You might want to consider going bigger if possible. You could go down to the 5 series and get the next size up for about the same price.

As far as 32" LCD's go if you must have 120hz then the 32LG60 is the only LCD out there that does it.

The first thing to realize about 120hz is it's a "REFRESH RATE" not a motion enhancer. It's too bad there aren't too many CRT computer monitors out there these days as it demos 120hz quite well. I myself still have a very nice 22" CRT computer monitor and the difference between 60hz and 120hz is very noticeable, in fact if I try and use 60hz on this CRT I get a headache real fast. The best wasy to describe it is the higher the refresh rate the cleaner, crisper and clearer the picture looks.

like I said if you must have a 32" with 120hz then the 32LG60 is the only one and the best price and place I could find was at Amazon for $799 which is a heck of a bargain.

Oh if you do return the LCD make sure to have a word with the store manager and tell him how you were treated by this salesman and who knows maybe he will take pitty on you and sell you say a Sony 40W4100 which has 120Hz, for a good price.(this is the LCD I bought and I'm very happy with it).

Good luck to you and happy holidays.

I've had nothing but bad information from Best buy employees but I'm the type that puts them on the spot when they mis-inform me. The same thing happened when I bought my preorder brand new car the day it came out. The salesperson clearly did not know what he was blabbing about. This forum has a wealth of knowledge and even before I bought my LCD ( two days ago ) I was reading and reading for days on LCD's. The best thing I did is search for LCD get specs and when I was ready to buy I had the exact model number of the set I wanted with the specs I got directly from the reviews and manufactures web page. What I would do if you were clearly mislead into that set is take it back and demand they have someone who has some knowledge of what you need help you. Do your own research on what you are looking for and post here so the members can help you. You will get much better help here than the employees at BB..........Good luck.

You got an outstanding 32" display (probably the best one out there). Just enjoy. The seating distance size should determine the best size for you.

As for viewing area my room in 12X12 and the bed in 4 feet from TV.

That's a good TV for gaming. The price is alright. If you get it, keep an eye on local prices so you can get a price match when the price drops. Circuit City had it a week or two ago for $1099. Assuming BB or CC goes on sale again, BB will refund the difference.

LN32A6650 is a wonderful TV. Kinda 'spensive though.

For gaming, input lag (nothing to do with response time) would be more important than the 120Hz. The 120Hz sets work with Nvidia's 3D glasses!

Some people say input lag doesn't matter but that depends on what games you play, what device (PC, Xbox, PS3, Wii etc), online or single player, resolution and input choice. If you play online on a true Hardcore (HC) server with no crosshair, small hitbox and if you die you wait till the next round to respawn then it IS a big deal! Do you want a slow input lag on the airbag in your car? TVs are expensive. Pay for performance.
