Did Replay do their demo days?

I went to two today in Manhattan - a Circuit City and a Wiz which are almost next to eachother. The Circuit City folks said that Replay was there last week. At the Wiz one rep in a Replay shirt was showing off the Showstopper, running a 2.1 demo. The rep was a nice guy, but was unaware of the 3.0 upgrade or the Showstopper vs. Replay macrovision issues. Although he was showing off the Showstopper, he said he was employed by Replay. He indicated that New York and CA were, not surprisingly, their largest markets.


There was nothing given away, but there was an entry form for a free Showstopper - they were giving away 2 units - but no just for that store or NY, but for all the demo days locations.

I tried to go to two different Replay demo days in Mahattan this Sunday, and there was nobody there at either. At one I asked and the salesguy said the person was supposed to be there but never showed up that day. I didn't ask at the other, but I hung out around the Replay for 10-15 minutes and wandered around looking for someone in a Replay shirt.

They were a no-show at the Best Buy I checked on saturday, as were 2 of 3 places I checked the prior saturday. The one that did show just loitered in front of the stores showstopper without fanfare. He was a nice guy but only seemed to know what his binder full of marketing info told him. He knew less about 2.1 than I did and other than myreplaytv he knew nothing about 3.0. Not impressive.
