I am looking to cascade a 2 (or 3) x 4 multi switch with an existing 3x8 multi switch in order to have 10 lines in total. I know the basics of multi switches (1-non powered with moving parts, 2-powered with moving parts and 3-solid state powered) and I have a single dish looking at only one satellite. I am looking at the RCA D6530 multi switch but it states it is "passive terrestrial". Anybody know if this means it is a powered multi switch? I can't seem to find this info in the part description. Since the lines I am running are right around 100 ft, I'd prefer to use a powered multi switch. If the RCA D6530 doesn't fit the bill, what else out there will. Not looking to break the bank on a Spaun or anything like that.

Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by OTA (over the air?). My concern is that I get a mutli switch that I can cascade with my current 3x8 and I do not know if there are any issues with doing this other than line distance. I am seeing some multi switches sold as "cascading" switches? Do I need to purchase on of those or will any 2x4 switch do the trick?

I'm no expert on multiswitches, but I believe "cascadability" depends on your current multiswitch, not the 2x4 you are looking to buy. If your current ms supports it, any ms will work with it. And if your current 3x8 is powered, I wouldn't even worry about whether the new one was powered or not. If I was in your position, I would give a cheap 2x4 from ebay a shot.

Thanks LR. THat's exactly what I did. I already have a non powered perfect vision 3x8 and I just bought a 3x4 non powered perfect vision MS for $11 on E-Bay. Hey, it's better than spending $80 at BB or Radio Shack.

Thanks.
