The only advantage to internal tuners that I can see now is that they accept unscrambled QAM (cable signal) and many will output firewire for recording. From what I gather most digital cable is scrambled so that may not be a big advantage but there are some who claim their cable providor doesn't scramble the signal.
I would not buy a tv with an internal tuner even if my cable company didn't scramble the signal simply because there is no guarantee that they won't scramble it in the future. I am either going to wait for the POD capabilities to be added or buy a tv without the internal tuner and wait for POD enabled tuners to be sold on the market (or for cable companies to start offering better tuners for rent).
