Hi I've recently been into a tv store and on display was the samsung uhd 9000 series on display and it looked amazing. Does anyone know what the differences are between this model and the new hu 8550 series is. Also how does the picture look with directv or a ps4 since the display model was being played with a 4k player.
The F9000 is a very nice TV and things look to be better this year. The main changes that the HU8550 has is a new design (the stand is more traditional to fit better on TV furniture), HDMI 2.0 built in and of course a few PQ and sound improvements. Samsung has also made efforts to improve uniformity, dimming and up scaling.
There is also the HU9000 which includes everything the 8550 has plus a curved screen, Pur Color (helps the TV reach around 70% of the new Rec.2020 color standard), Auto Depth Enhancer (optional feature that gives content a 3Dish look without the need for 3D glasses), One connect box included (sense the HU9000 has no inputs on the actual TV) and a better motion rating.
Overall they both look like great TV's. However, I would wait for reviews before buying. You can get more info on the Samsung website. There is also a couple current threads discussing the 2014 UHD models.
