I am looking to get a video card that will support DVI to a new projector. Are there any differences in the way cards support DVI, or any gotchas I should be aware of?

I know that DVI can support analog and/or digital, so do video cards that have DVI connectors support both?

not necessarily. the easiest way to tell would be to look at the dvi connector itself. to understand the difference between a dvi-d & a dvi-i connector, go to the following link:

good luck.

There was an article where they tested the DVI frequencies for ATI and nVidia cards. It was some complex stuff that I don't understand.

Ati won though.

It was a good study, because all the ATI cards were consistent, and all the nvidia cards were similar.

they said the ATI won in testing due to some better design.

The main thing you should know is: are the tmds transmitters in the video card compliant? There are a few PC reviewers that have actually done this test up to a certain resolution.
