My cable company STB provides a digital coxial audio port. My Sony A/V receiver has optical port for the TV/SAT. I have a coxial port for CD that is not being used. Can I use that port for the STB coxial port?

It really depends. We're assuming yes because you should be able to tell the receiver where to look for the signal. What I have noticed is... we here own a Kenwood for out bedroom receiver, and you can only use the one which is intended for that connection. So you might have to go through your Sony manual.

Harly,

It would work as long as you don't use your A/V receiver for the video switching as well. Otherwise I don't believe it would work.

Again, it really depends on the receiver.

Look at the manual, try to reassign the digital input port.

Usually we can choose which one goes for digital/optical port.

Simple answer to your question, yes.

You can use CD's coaxial port for your STB.
