Hello. I just hooked up my VHS/DVD player to an old tube TV. It works but the picture is not clear whether it’s a tape or a dvd. I double checked the connection and it is hooked up correctly. Also I should note that the device is hooked up to a modern day cable box. How can I get a clear picture. Do I need a digital to analog converter? Thanks

No. The TV is analog. The connections only carry an analog signal. The VCR is analog and the DVD player already converts digital to analog for playback.

Your picture issues may be due to:
Poor TV.
Poor cables (composite or S-Video).
Poor VCR/DVD player.
Poor quality of VCR/DVD recordings.
Or... you may be expecting too much. :)

I will double check my cables.
The unit is a 2011 model so it’s possible that it’s starting to fail.

Yes I expect that the picture should be clear during playback. That’s why I’m here. To find out why it’s not.

Any other opinions?

What happens with the VCR/DVD on another TV?
Have any other sources to test on the TV to compare?
