Hi,

I have an X1, progressive scan DVD player, satellite, playstation2 (all of the Home theater equipment you would normally find in a home theatre) and my question is, which Digital Video Essentials would be the best to get?

I do not have any HD content yet, but I will be getting it at some point in the future.

Can anyone offer some guidance?

Thanks

Bob

I too have this question. I ordered the NTSC one, since that was the only one available when I preordered from Amazon. Now it is here, and on the back it says "we have engineered versions for NTSC, PAL and HDTV." I am not sure if that means, there are three seperate versions, or three on the same DVD, or what? Would like to find out before I open it since most places wouldn't take it back once opened.

The way I understand it is the HD versions are on D-VHS only.

(there are 4 versions, NTSC, PAL, 720P & 1080 P(i think))

So you would be right in getting the NTSC version unless you need/watch PAL.

:)

It's shipping. I got my copy at the CEDIA show last weekend. There are forum members who have received their copies this past week. See the thread in the DVD software section.

mine just says "Digital Video Essentials" on the front title. on the back it says:

"NTSC Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1 English Digital Surround EX

English Dolby Pro-Logic .... 114 Minute"

There is demo video on there like NASA footage, cityscapes, etc. that's one reason it's 114 minutes.

There are separate NTSC and PAL editions, as well as DVHS copies in either 720p or 1080i.
