DirectTV Tivo vs. Dish Network DVR

My contract with DirecTV is about up. I LOVE the TiVo service (have both HR10-250 High Def and SD units). However, the lack of HD programming is forcing me to consider Dish Network and local cable.

Cable is attractive (easy setup, no dish/OTA on the roof, discount on cable Internet service). But the DVR is horrible in my opinion. The new TiVo series 3 at $800 is just too expensive for me at this time.

So I looked at the Dish Network site and found that their HD programming seems to be very expansive. But does anyone have experience with the Dish Network DVR unit? How would you compare it to D* TiVo?

I don't have an answer for you, but hoping you get some response. I'm about in the same situation as you, but cable is not an option for me :(
About 25 HD channels plus local HD channels plus an HD-DVR for about $60 dollars a month is too expensive?

He didn't say that, read it again.
For some characterizations of the Dish Network's DVR, see the thread Loving my ViP622 . I'm a die-hard cable guy and I'm looking seriously at Dish as well - at least partly for the far superior DVR.

My biggest hangup is that I MUST have a way to archive HD content, and it would be fairly costly for me to R5000-HD the DVR.
