When I get the slightest rain, my Showtime HD goes out completely.

During clear weather I have a 90 signal strength for the other 2 satellites.

When I called DirecTV, they indicated that not only can the dish be positioned, but each LNB can be positioned as well.

Is this correct or was this the typical CSR mumbo jumob?

If you have the newer phase III 18" x 20" oval 3 LNB dish, all 3 LNBs are built into a single array and cannot be adjusted independently. I'm not sure about the older 18" x 24" dual LNB dish with the optional 3rd LNB. I can say that with my phase III dish it's crucial to have the mast perfectly plumb in both directions and to have the tilt set correctly.

Something is very wrong with your setup if you are losing Showtime when it rains just a small amount. Try re-aligning your dish, and if this doesn't help return it and get a new one.

What other channels are on Sat C to check this out (I don't have Showtime)? I get NASA and I get channel 90 when its up, but if I do a system test, Sat C shows 'Bad'. I have the 18 x 24 dish with Zenith 520, and I have good signal strength on all other channels.

I don't think you have an alignment problem if you have great signal strength on the 101 and 119 LNB's. I don't think individual LNB realignment is possible unless it may be sitting in the dish incorrectly. Check to see if that LNB is loose. The 110 LNB is automatically aligned of you're good on the other two.

That's not true. When I was installing my triple-LNB dish, I could get good signal strength on two satellites and have nothing on the third. You really have to strike a balance where you are getting good signal strength on all 3 satellites. I am guessing he needs to tweak the angle somewhat.

I see a lot more variance on Sat C than the others, from low 60s to low 80s.

74 for the middle LNB while the other 2 LNBs have signal strength of 90s.

Rain pretty much drops the middle LNB into the 50s and kills the picture.

What does everyone else see?

I have the same issues. With my new 3lnb I have gotten rainfade the last two heavy rains. Never had a problem with the dual lnb. My ss are 90% for A/B and 80% for C. Doesnt make any sense to me?

Pabuwal,

I'm *somewhat in the vicinity* AFA being in Central NJ--noticed issues last night on Showtime HD for the first time since my Triple LNB was installed over a month ago. Signal strength was down around 37 or so while almost every other channel I checked for A/B was up around 75 or so with snow/ice on the dish.

I happened to check back today and it was still hovering around 70 or so---yet, Im not sure if that's what it's ALWAYS been as I rarely watch SHOHD. I did notice that the Test Channel on 90 is up near 85 or so---so I tend to agree with Greywolf that that Sat C seems to have a high degree of fluctuation from channel to channel.

I'm in the 90's on all three birds. I must have gotten lucky because I relaced an old 24" with the new phase III and that was my signal strength. It actually improved (I was only getting mid 70's before).

What is the Phase III, how much is it and where can it be purchased?

Is it possible that DirecTV is broadcasting Sat C at low power because only Showtime HD is on it?

I hope that is the case.

Nope. Just running the one HD receiver off the Phase III dish.

I have a multiswitch hooked up to my regular round dish.

Sounds like SolidSignal is on the trail. Is your "Multi Switch" exposed to the rain? I suspect this is the problem. Perhaps water egress. Are all connections from the SatC to the switch tight?

I believe if it is water, the signal eventually disappears as the liquid is shorting the voltage that controls the SatC and soon as the rain slacks, the connection drys enough and returns to normal ops.
