Anybody have any status updates on the new DirecTV 5 satellite. I know the launch went fine but I heard nothing about it afterwards.

It's actually in operation right now. DirecTV 5 is actually a spy satellite with very high resolution optics. It will snap random photographs of houses all across America and compare them with their billing database. If your home has a DirecTV dish, but no service then you're in trouble!THEY'RE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!


Of course, this isn't true. Or is it!?

I have read on the web (can't relocate source to post). That all is well. They extended the antenna's and solar arrays and are moving the satellite into its location. All systems were working as planned as they continue to check it out. I don't recall when it will be brought online but I imagine it will be in June sometime.
