Anybody have this combination? I called Directv tech this afternoon to request a cablecard for my HDTV and they didn't know what I was talking about.

They only provide cards for the STB they said. Did I do something wrong?

For instance, could the TV cablecard function be meant for HD feeds rather than just digital?

One tech told me to inquire about a card at Radio Shack.

Help.

a cablecard plugged into a tv, enables viewing of authorized content for cable tv channels, that would be encrypted without it.


Not familiar with DirectTV, but I would assume as long as you have a dish/receiver HD capable, the sat receiver would take care of receiving and processing the signal, then would just pass it on to the TV for display

Directv does not offer a cablecard. You need to have one of their boxes.

Thanks for the replies! Gotta use the STB then. I have one of the older RCA boxes that likes to crash every other day requiring a reboot. Gotta keep my fingers crossed whenever I do a timer recording with the VCR. Drat.
