DirecTV locals replaced with ethnic listings?

108 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  ReplayBen
On some DirecTV locals, the program guide shows some weird ethnic channels like Nile TV and Greek TV, etc. Plus the Replay won't tune the satellite receiver to those channels. The Replay thinks it has changed channels, but the receiver never tunes to the channel indicated. (I have no other tuning problems, ever, and it fails to tune every time with these ethnic channels)

Has anyone else seen this?

I don't have a list with me here at work, but it's more than just a few.

Many locals and ethnic channels are not in the primary satellite location. As a result, if you do not have the oval shaped dish with two dual LNBs, the channels are unavailable (they would be unavailable if they were local channels for a different city as well). Replay does not track what kind of dish you are using, so it just displays all of them.

So either buy a new dish (making sure your receiver is compatible) or just delete the channels from your channel guide and enjoy!

In this case, the listings are showing up in the middle of locals, actually, *instead of* some locals in some cases. They have appeared in the 870-999 rage, which are only DirecTV local channels.

Hi Ryan,

The channel lineup on ReplayTV is a "virtual" lineup -- and may not exactly match the lineup for your input source. Each input source is allocated 1000 channel slots (at most) in the virtual lineup, and as a result, any channels that fall outside that range (like channels in the 9000 range on DISH and DirecTV) are remapped into empty channels below 1000. ReplayTV will tune to the original channel when you choose the remapped channel in the virtual lineup.
