Directv OTA ?

I have a H10 that's not being used, can I use the receiver for picking up OTA local HD channels without the receiver being activated?

Thanks for any info,

Mark

Why dont you try it yourself before posting, if nothing happens, you'll wont get in trouble :)

Anyway just make sure you insert the directv access card in the slot, and make sure you select the no directv dish option in the menu.

But i think the access card has to be activated at first, then deactivated if you dont want Directv service on that reciever
I don't want the Directv service, I just want the use of the OTA tuner for the local channels. My parents have cable and I would give them the H10 if it's capable of receiving the locals in HD. I would like to know first before we invest in a OTA antenna.

How far are you from the towers? I'm over 30 miles out and get great signal strength with $8 RCA rabbit ears from WalMart.
Scott at Sat Guys, has a thread about rumors D* wants to send fw to all former

HD's not active to end free OTA use.

Just try hooking up the H10 with no antenna, you should know real fast. Messages meaning no, if your still OK, get an antenna.

We all want to know the scoop. Gives us the details, cardless?, deactivated card?
Just tried antenna only on my sony HD 200 and worked fine.
