I am ready to install a satellite dish and want opinions on DirecTV vs Dish.

I have a Pioneer 64" HDTV (SD641-HD5) and will probbaly record to a HiPix card in my HDTVPC.

I like action movies, sci fi, TLC, History channel and don't care for sports, racing, billiards, etc.

Is there one network that provides more movies and less sports in a package?

I am also considering the cost/value of going to a HDTV satellite at this time?

So what do you like? DirecTV? Dish?

Woolygums,

I'm a little confused about your post. First, are you looking to record sat. HD signals with HiPix card? As for which network provides more movies - less sports then Dish is the way to go (no, I'm not a Dish diehard - DirecTV since day 1). As for a HD stb you only have 1 choice with Dish and half a dozen or more with DirecTV. As for recording HD sat signals I think (not sure) but only the Dish 5000 with the 8VSB modulator has a signal that you can feed to the HiPix card for recording. I myself would like to find a way to do this with my Mits SR HD5 stb. Can only record OTA HD signals with the HiPix card.
