FYI directx 8.1 has just appeard on w2k update pages. The second I saw it I went to click to download it and I'm just about to push the button .... but wait do I want to do this.


I have heard about several issues this is the version that comes with XP isnt it?


My question is is this a desired update will it let me use DXVA for powerdvd xp?


Anyway just asking for your thoughts,

i installed under w2k. No problems so far. haven't watched enough to tell if it makes a difference though

I installed and haven't encountered any problems yet. I have played DTS and DD DVD on Win DVD 3.0 with a SBLive Value.

Well just installed it my 3Dmark score has gone up by about 100 (pretty negligable).


DVDs however in powerdvd xp with hardware mode DXVA is indeed enabled but the menus bob up and down looking really horrible.


I havent done further testing to see if all video material is like this. Film material looks fine. My immediate reaction is that some scenes look better but that could be ye oldy placebo effect again
