Hello,

Nice to join AVS forums - first post. I just found a nice old TA-F444ES II amp on feebay and it sounds good except the pots seem to be rather dirty. I took the top off of it and the whole IC board has a baked in layer of dust on it. Does it make sense to try to clean the board off by spraying some kind of cleaner on it? Maybe some non-lub electrical cleaner or something? I'm thinking that if it's dirty it may have more of a heat problem than if it was clean.

The pots are a bit scratchy too, so they probably need to be cleaned if that's possible.

If so, should I leave this up to a pro vintage shop in my area instead of doing it myself?

EZ to do..

Use a paintbrush to carefully brush away the dust then blow the loose stuff out..

Be sure that all push-in connectors are down snug.

Regarding kleening the controls and switches..

Get a can of contact kleener, when the top & bottom covers are off get a good shot into each switch/control let it soak in and then hit it with another shot.. Also a good idea to push in/out each switch and rotate each control to work in the kleener...

Just my $0.02... 👍😉
