Discrete Codes and Harmony 659?

443 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Cush1978
OK, I have a Samsung HLP-5063W and can't get the Antenna Input to work right. I've seen lists of discrete codes for this function. I can't seem to find a place in the Harmony Configuration to explicitly assign discrete codes to a function. Is there such a way?

i think the easiest way would be to learn the command from you original remote.
Is the discrete for antenna input already in the Harmony database? Go to Device mode for the TV and see if there is a command there for Antenna Input, and if it works properly.

If it is already in the database, go to your home page and select "more options" on the TV device. On the next page select "adjust inputs", then "I go directly to the input I want". Make sure the list of inputs matches what your TV actually has, then press Next.

Then for each input select "Use these infrared commands" and choose the command you found in Device mode.

If the discrete isn't in the Harmony database already(unlikely), but you can find the Pronto hex for the command on the net, you'll need to email the Pronto code to tech support and they'll add it to the database.
Well yes, there is a code in the Harmony Database that's called InputAntenna. It does not work for me. The various revisions of the HLP firmware seem to work differently with discrete codes. I'm in the processing of getting a firmware update, but I was hoping to get it working in the mean time. I can't use the original remote because the only input button forces me to cycle through all the inputs.

So in short, the Harmony database doesn't have HLP codes on a per-firmware basis; I imagine the codes that are there are for a different version. Most work, but I do see that the DVI input for example, has three or four different variations, one that works for me. I know this input (along with HDMI) was problematic in different revisions of the firmware as well.

I guess I'm stuck in the meantime unless a Pronto code targeted at my firmware exists.

I don't have the HLP, but can you simply press Channel Up or Channel Down to get to the Antenna? If you can, why not use that?
Haven't tried that. I've worked around the problem by making it switch to the DVI input, then hitting the "Source" button to advance to the next (connected) input which is the TV. Channel Up/Down would be quicker. I'll give it a shot. Still just bugs me that the discrete code doesn't work at all. I also know HDMI doesn't work on my firmware, but no HDMI components...yet.
